"Open open open." So said mitchellgarmanarchitects' Kelly Mitchell of this 1960's bungalow. Commissioned with turning the residence into a light-filled, modern retreat for a couple of avid cyclists, DMAC set about creating openness and bringing the outside in. We removed the back exterior walls of the home, including a chimney, and installed floor-to-ceiling windows in their place resulting in a stunning glass expanse that turned an enlarged master bath into a gorgeous retreat with a view. DMAC then installed updated lighting throughout the home under the direction of Steven Byrd of Scott Oldner Lighting and refinished hardwoods throughout. Custom cabinetry and new tile in two baths, and the conversion of a small second bedroom into a media room, enhanced the overall transformation from 60s to sizzling.
